The kernel config of the Gentoo minimal boot disk (and presumably earlier versions) has all the necessary options set to start drivers for CD-ROM and network, so you can zcat /proc/www.doorway.ru /usr/share/genkernel/x86/kernel-config as the Gentoo handbook says, however apparently it's still necessary to compile MPT support into the kernel when you boot . · I am running Gentoo on a SunBlade I have installed Gentoo and compiled and all and the machine boots (yeah!) but, I had no problems getting on my network with the CD but can't figure out why my network config doesn't work from boot. www.doorway.ru fresh gentoo install can not detect my wifi card hello I just installed gentoo and after compiling and installing my own kernel.I rebooted my system but no wfi card I recompiled my kernel according to the wiki but no luck could any one please help me. I also tried installing Ubuntu which worked after 15 min. and recognized the network card without any problems but I would really prefer to go with Gentoo. If a WiFi connection is needed while installing Gentoo, note that the Gentoo minimal install CD has a limited number of drivers available, and provides only wpa_cli (and not wpa_gui) for configuring for WPA/WPA2/Enterprise connections. If the minimal install CD does not contain the required drivers or the graphical frontend to wpa_supplicant is preferred, choose a different live CD such as the System Rescue CD.
